Artwork Title: Political Dilemma

Artist Statement:

My artwork theme is Malaysian politics and the concept is how politics gives impact on the citizen. As a citizen, and as someone that just started to know about politics, this artwork represents my own perspective and how I perceive politics in Malaysia.

Artwork Treatment:

My idea is related to the disagreement of the political parties in Malaysia. The broken cubes represent all the effects of those disagreements and disputes to the citizen. The cube and the steep edge are the main focus of this artwork.

The cubes represent the citizens. The steep edge represents the disagreement that keeps getting increased. For the color, the idea comes from the colors in Malaysian flag. Blue represent unity and harmony among peoples. Red represents bravery but also as disputes and disagreements that are negative. Yellow represent the devotion for the King and White represent honesty.

The logic for my artwork is when the disputes increases among the political parties, the harmony and unity among the citizens are getting shattered and broken. Honesty is hard to be trusted and that’s why I changed the white color to gray. The only thing holding us is the devotion and respect for our King.
